OUR HISTORY
“Killer Shrimp” is a family recipe that has remained unchanged for 30 years. Legendary rocker Lee Michaels created this spicy shrimp dish to share with his family especially his two sons (Kevin and Mika) who would come home from a long day of surfing asking Dad to make some of his “killer” shrimp for them and their friends. This ended up as their version of a “lemonade stand” the brothers spent one-weekend making flyers to promote and sell this dish to their neighbors and friends biking around and delivering Killer Shrimp to people’s doorsteps for dinner. An overwhelming response and request for more sparked the idea to open a “pop-up” restaurant in Lee’s music studio in Venice Beach. More positive feedback encouraged the family to consider opening a full-service restaurant. For 20 years the family sold “Killer Shrimp” and only “Killer Shrimp” out of 3 Southern California locations (Marina Del Rey, Redondo Beach, and Studio City). It is from these roots that Killer Shrimp has become what it is today. Our menu now offers many great items including fresh seafood, steaks, awesome appetizers, and incredible desserts but the “Killer Shrimp” is still the backbone and most important food item on our menu.

THE VENUE
Killer Shrimp is located in the historic Marina Del Rey Harbor and boasts 5,000 square feet of dining fantasy. Every one of our 240 seats, intimate booths and family-style tables offer jaw-dropping waterfront views. Boaters love our 300 feet of public boat docking, making us the only “dock and dine“ destination in the city. The Harbor Patio features outdoor seating with glass enclosures, cozy heaters and date-worthy ambiance. The daytime vibe is upbeat and sparkling with ocean breezes, while dining after dusk is an aphrodisiac mix of sultry rock, jazz/R&B, and low-lit bliss. The ultimate alternative to the standard hotel banquet room, Killer Shrimp offers incredible Special Event accommodations for everything from corporate banquets to gatherings for close friends and family. The Overkill Special Events Room, features banquet accommodations for up to 366 guests, a full bar, dance floor, lofty 26-ft ceilings and an emotional wheelhouse view overlooking glistening water, sailboat masts and harbor lights. THE FOOD
Killer Shrimp is prepared using the finest natural ingredients and simmered for 10 hours, and this creates our luxurious spicy sauce. When your order is placed, the shrimp are added to the sauce and cooked quickly. Your order is rushed to your table piping hot and served with French bread for dipping. The menu inspires food addicts with traditional family recipes (The Original Killer Shrimp) as well as mouth-watering fresh seafood, steak, salad and soup options. Entrees ($11-$22) are served in epic proportions and appetizers at thrifty prices ($8-$12). Desserts are nothing short of the ultimate guilty pleasure, with our sweet-tooth superstar being the Killer Shrimp Sweet Potato Pecan Pie served with decadent Chantilly Cream.
THE BAR
The Killer Shrimp Bar’s huge scale and 7 massive flat-screens give guests front-row love for sporting events and an incredible waterfront view. From supercalls to specialty smashes, the famed drink mixologist Marcos Tello tantalizes thirsty taste buds for $10 or less with custom creations using fresh juices, homemade syrups and crushed herbs served over ice pearls. The Bar Menu covers everything from 12-tap beers on draft, domestic and imported bottled beers, and fine wine by the bottle or glass. We feature Happy Hour food and beverage hits 7-days a week, as well as our Original Killer Shrimp at its original price of $9.95 every Monday.
